The workshop brought together partners and stakeholders participating in the IMPROVE project both on-site and online from Finland and Portugal as well as regional stakeholders from Tartu. During the event, speakers addressed different issues, such as the governance of policy and financial instruments and information about RIS3 and Smart City initiatives. Afterward, there were presentations of successful examples of start-up ecosystems and programs.
The event’s main goal was to discuss the potential transfer of good practices in the Tartu region, incl. University of Tartu (UT) spin-off program and ADAPTER https://projects2014-2020.interregeurope.eu/improve/good-practices/. The UT spin-off program, ADAPTER, and the sTARTUp Tartu ecosystem were presented, focusing on how to support start-ups and new SMEs, and other entrepreneurial initiatives.
The regional policy session was about the Smart City Tartu example, the new smart initiatives worked together with the public and private sectors. Raimond Tamm, Deputy Mayor of Tartu: “If there is one ingredient that makes a city smart, it is DATA!”
Furthermore, an important part was discussing the good practices presented among partners.
