On Friday 21st of June 2019 a local stakeholder meeting on the innovation ecosystem in transport sector and the transport innovation capacity of the Region of Central Macedonia, Greece, was realized. The meeting was successfully held at the conference room of the Professionals’ Chamber of Thessaloniki with the participation of representatives of many important actors involved in the transport sector. 

After presenting their viewpoints and their concerns about the current situation of transport in the Region of Central Macedonia focusing on innovation, the participants discussed on the possibilities of enhancing and facilitating this kind of transport innovation in the region. They shared good practices identified abroad, lessons learned from previous experiences of implemented actions, while expressing policy recommendations with a view to improve the regional policies and measures.

This stakeholder meeting was organized in the framework of INNOTRANS project of Interreg Europe Program by the project partner Transport Systems Research Group of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The following bodies were represented: Region of Central Macedonia (RCM), Transport Authority of Thessaloniki, Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/EKETA), Professionals’ Chamber of Thessaloniki, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Thessaloniki, Technology Park of Thessaloniki, Technology Transfer Office of AUTh, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh), enterprises TERO Ltd and Entranet Ltd, Association of Information Technology Companies of Northern Greece, Hellenic Society of Logistics of Northern Greece - SOLE Thessaloniki Chapter.
