“The Artificial Intelligence, mHealth and Robotics as Reformers in the Welfare Sector in South Ostrobothnia” project was launched by the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences' School of Social and Health Care in January 2019. The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences.

The aim of the project is to create an environment in SeAMK's school of social and health care that demonstrates the future of smart home living. The demonstration environment is built as a whole that combines artificial intelligence, mobile health technology (mHealth) and robotics applications. The applications are intended to promote longer living at home widely for all customer groups of welfare sector SMEs.

The purpose of the demonstration environment and workshops is to provide South Ostrobothnian entrepreneurs with objective and neutral information about new and changing technology. The demonstration environment also provides an opportunity to test the technology. The demonstration environment is built to complement the equipment of the Nordic Telemedicine Center located in SeAMK.

The most impressing equipment purchases to demonstration environment are RehabWall (designed for Neurological Rehabilitation), humanoid robots Pepper and Cruzr, walker called Lea and YetiTablet. However, the demonstration environment is also equipped with mHealth technology and a voice and eye-controlled home management system.

Due to Corona virus pandemic all activities planned to the demonstration environment have been postponed to autumn 2020. Next autumn there will be group activities, pop up events around South Ostrobothnia and workshops for Welfare sector SME’s.
