A fully electric waste and recycling collection vehicle has been trialled for the first time in Milton Keynes to make progress in providing sustainable waste solutions. The three-day trial period commenced in October where the electric vehicle was charged at Milton Keynes’s depot in Wolverton before making way to one of the usual rounds for waste collection.
The innovative electric waste vehicle uses lightweight smart battery technology allowing the vehicle to increase its payload and collects and compacts waste almost noiselessly. The people of Milton Keynes can enjoy the significant reduction of urban noise pollution within their communities.
According to the manufacturer, the electric waste vehicle is also quite cheap in daily usage as there are no fuel costs to operate the machine. Hence, the environmental footprint is reduced to almost zero by this operation. It also has an LED display to share messages and recycling tips.
