The scale of the challenge presented by climate change requires the drastic cooperation of all sectors of society to collectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Ireland’s climate is changing in line with global trends and the impacts of this change are expected to continue and intensify into the near future with extreme weather events.
The Local Authority Climate Action Training Programme is set to launch early in the year as a response to the need for “the development of local authority climate action leadership and capacities.” The programme aims to strengthen and empower Local Authority climate action leadership and build capacity within the sector to further reinforce the delivery of effective climate action.
The training is funded by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications and have been developed by the Climate Action Regional Offices (CARO), in collaboration with the Local Authority Services National Training Group and others, including Climate Ireland.
