All partners and selected stakeholders attended this event. They were welcomed to Milton Keynes by Cllr. Peter Marland the leader of Milton Keynes Council. Environmental urban planner and architect Gabriella Robba from the Kallipolis organisation in Trieste Italy moderated the proceedings.
There were three presentations. The first was delivered by Robert Macek from Enviros and a stakeholder from Trnava in Slovakia gave an enlightening presentation on "Developing municipal energy strategies and integrated climate change planning". The second presentation was given by Brian Matthews Head of Transport Innovation with Milton Keynes Council on the topic "Prioritizing and strengthening the City/Local energy actions to achieve national CO2 targets" The final presentation was given by Karl Purcell of Ireland's Sustainable Energy Authority Behavioural Economics Unit on the subject matter " Stakeholders - Identifying and targeting key stakeholders, understanding stakeholder profiles and the power of champions and community leaders to collaborate on climate action".
The presentations served as a backdrop and guidance to two excellent workshops focused on Fighting CO2 Emissions, Building Energetic Solutions and Energising Stakeholders utilising the collaborative cubic workshop technique.
The site visit to Milton Keynes electric vehicle experience centre demonstrated how innovative ultra low carbon technologies can be introduced into peoples lives. The centre also facilitated test drive of electric vehicles by the thematic event participants.
On completion the Milton Keynes event participants had a much clearer understanding of the importance of intelligently selecting targeting communities in order to deliver real carbon reductions through intense community engagement
