The fourth thematic event to be held by the Interreg Europe Intensify project team begins tomorrow in Vitoria-Gasteiz. The event follows on from three previous thematic events that covered areas of concern to the project partners: identifying communities to be targeted, how to motivate a targeted community, and using financial instruments to incentivise communities to take action to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. This event will examine digital social platforms (DSP) and how they can be used to increase awareness in communities of the need to reduce their GHG emissions.
The fourth thematic event will take the format of a workshop addressing a number of key questions in relation to DSP’s:
• What modes of community engagement platforms exist (digital and others)?
• What needs to be assessed in order to make the decision to use DSP’s?
• How do you plan and execute a community engagement platform (including a DSP)?
• How do you pay for a DSP?
• Can project partners jointly specify and procure a DSP that meets their needs
• Can project partners jointly specify and procure a DSP with non-INTENSIFY project partners e.g. collaborators and stakeholders?
• How do you design and deliver a cost effective platform?
• Who should manage the DSP for the project?
• What are the requirements of a platform that meets the needs of the projects vision – increasing by 22% the level of awareness among the project citizens of the need to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions?
The event is being organised by the Centro Estudios di Ambientale (CEA) based in Vitoria-Gasteiz (capital of the Spanish Basque Country) and ECAT the education and training institute based in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Rita Lopes of the new University of Lisbon will be the moderator for the event. The speakers are Vanessa Pulgarin-Auguilla from Irish utility company ERVIA, Theo Fernandes from Power H2020 project, Jose Hernándes from the CARTIF project and Alexandra Alfoldiová from the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava (Slovakia).
The other project partners involved in the Intensify Project are AGENEAL (the energy agency of Almada, Portugal), Cork City Council (Ireland), the City of ZADAR (Croatia), the City of Trnava (Slovakia), Milton Keynes Council (UK), Energieavantgarde e.V (Germany), and the Province of Treviso (Italy). The project budget is valued at €2,092,955 of which Interreg Europe provides 85% (€1,739,680).
