As part of the Interreg Europe project INTENSIFY the Province of Treviso conducted an online survey asking administrative and technical staff of 19 local municipalities questions about their engagement in actions to tackle climate change and about their awareness of energy, environmental and financial issues.
In the opinion of the interviewees the three most important actions to address climate change are: incentivizing renewable energy (23%), improving the mobility of people (22%) and reducing air pollution (20%). If, on the one hand, they consider renewable energy a resource whose potential is being widely exploited in their municipal realities, on the other hand, they think mobility and pollution are municipal issues that need further attention.
As for the management of municipal buildings from an energy point of view, there appears to be room for improvement in the methods and tools employed to record consumption data and in the energy behaviour of public building users.
The questionnaire responses show that these municipalities have all developed their Sustainable Energy Action Plans and are moving on to the following phase of developing their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans, so there is awareness about these issues. On the contrary, there is still little or no knowledge of the financial and economic opportunities available on the market with regard to national and regional financial instruments and incentives.
