PLASTECO consortium gathered again, this time for a study visit in Riga, Latvia in the period 9-12.05.2022. The event was organized by Association Baltic Coasts, the Latvian partner within PLASTECO project and had as the main focus aquatic plastics litter clean-up practices and efforts, including prevention initiatives.
The first activity on the agenda was a visit to the seacoast where microplastics sampling was performed on the beach together with a visit to the Latvian Institute of Aquatic Ecology, where the found samples were investigated. It was followed by a tour of the facility of the cleantech startup Polylabs - BIO-based polyols for the polyurethane industry. The study visit concluded with a presentation from the citizen clean-up initiative “My Sea” (Mana jūra).
The 6th project meeting and the steering group meeting were conducted on the next day, covering the important topics of phase I activities and elaboration of the Action plans.
We thank all partners and stakeholders for the fruitful meeting and hope for a successful end of Phase I.
