In this section you will find information related to venue and accommodation arrangements. Please keep in mind that travel and accommodation costs are at the expense of the participants. For Interreg Europe project partners, the travel and accommodation costs can be claimed through the progress reports and be reimbursed by the programme.

We suggest that you book your flights and hotel as soon as possible after receiving a confirmation email from us.

From Hamburg airport to the venue

Public transport

Urban trains With the S1 S-Bahn (metro rail network) line, passengers can travel from Hamburg’s Hauptbahnhof (central railway station) to the airport and back; the journey takes only 25 minutes one-way, and the service operates every 10 minutes.

To go from the airport directly to the venue, you can take the S1 S-Bahn from Hamburg airport until the

Hamburg Jungfernstieg stop. From here, you can walk to the venue, as it will take you approximatively 6 minutes. More informationis available here.

Taxi transfer

A taxi is the quickest and most comfortable way to get to and from Hamburg Airport. The price for a taxi ride from the airport to the centre of Hamburg is about € 30.

What to do if you miss your flight?

According to EU legislation, all passengers departing from/arriving in an EU country (or Iceland, Norway, Switzerland) with a carrier licensed in the EU are entitled to a specific set of rights upon conditions. 

  • If your flight is cancelled, the airline must give you the choice between reimbursement or rerouting (you have the right to assistance while waiting). You may also be entitled to additional compensation (€125-€600) under some conditions.
  • For long delays, you may be entitled to assistance and to compensation, depending on the delay length and flight distance.
  • If you are denied boarding, you also have the choice between reimbursement or rerouting. You may also be entitled to compensation. If you choose re-routing, you are entitled to assistance if necessary.
  • The airline must always inform you about your rights.
  • If your luggage is lost, damaged or delayed, you may be entitled to compensation from the airline of up to about €1200.
  • For damaged luggage, you need to file your claim within 7 days of receiving your luggage (21 days for delayed luggage).
