After three years of cooperation, the first phase of the EU project “POTEnT - Public Organisations Transform Energy Transition”, is coming to an end.
Many things happened since the beginning of the project in August 2019. After years of intense work and after successfully overcoming the challenges posed by the COVID19 pandemic, which delayed some activities but did not prevent the full achievement of the project's objectives, POTEnT is now in the pipeline. At end of June all the 9 partners met in Parma to share the good practices of their Regional Action plan for the final Capacity Building Event, which also marked the end of phase 1.
But it’s not over yet: the results of the project will be monitored for the next 12 months by the partners in order to assess the impact of the interregional learning activities and will be presented during POTEnT Final Conference that will take place in May 2023.
For the entire duration of the project, ALOEN (the Energy and climate local agency for South Brittany) coordinated 9 partners from 9 European countries with the aim of learning how to achieve more carbon reduction by harnessing the potential of direct and local action by citizens and communities. Thanks to a total budget of around 2 million euros, through transnational cooperation the project has collected more than 40 good practices, realized more than 20 study visits and developed eight Regional Action Plans to improve existing policy instruments that, as a result, will be able to and finance the implementation of new energy transition projects. The impact of the project is expanded through the local stakeholders’ group created in the 8 partner regions which supported in the preparation of the Action Plans.
