After visiting high energy efficiency hospitals in Tuscany last March, the same technical delegation from Crete visited the City of Malmö on the 13th and 14th of  September 2018.

In the exchange participated 3 engineers representing the Technical Department Services of the Region of Crete and 2 stakeholders representing two of the main hospitals in Crete. The main purpose was to meet some of the successfully implemented GPs that make the City of Malmö an exemplary city in Europe regarding optimal energy use, energy efficiency and energy saving.

The Greek delegation visited public buildings of different typologies in order to see the different types of actions and energy systems and how they reflect to energy reduction. In particular, they visited:

  • the Hylliebadet swimming pool, where its energy management was presented and how it is conducted  through a BMS system, aiming at the good operation of the building. The BMS system monitors all the public buildings in the city.

  • the Mazetti building, an old industrial cocoa powder building, renovated to accommodate mainly cultural activities. A project is being implemented to reduce energy consumption through the replacement of the lighting.

  • the Malmö Technical Museum, where a solar energy transmission system through fiber optics to illuminate underlying areas has been implemented, as well as an innovative thermal insulation system.

  • the Lindborg school complex, where a LED lighting system is used in a room that fluctuates during the day the light intensity as well as the levels of hot and cold lighting influencing the pupils' concentration and performance.
