On 24-25 May 2018, the second Italian national SUMP conference took place in Bologna, in the region Emilia-Romagna, which was an official support partner in the organisation of the conference. The Italian partners of REFORM, ITL and Regione Emilia-Romagna as well as Transport for Greater Manchester and Polis represented the project at this occasion.

Approximately 300 participants, representing local authorities and the private sector came to Bologna, from all over the country to listen to the good practices and discuss them in thematic workshops.

During the first day, discussions focused on SUMPs at different institutional levels. In this context, Regione Emilia-Romagna presented the actions of the regional authority towards municipalities, including - of course - a presentation of the work undertaken within REFORM. Transport for Greater Manchester presented one of the "European Good Practices" while Polis presented the results of the EU SUMP Conference which took place only a few days earlier.

The discussions on the Italian national framework - including the guidelines, the funding and the legal aspects - was one of the highlights of the first day of the conference.

On the second day, thematic workshops, focused on different themes, including:

  • rapid mass transport;
  • smart initiatives for mobility;
  • electric mobility;
  • active mobility;
  • monitoring and evaluation, and
  • participation
