In November, public-private cooperation was the topic of discussion in Tartu at our third Thematic Event. The key questions evolved around public-private cooperation and what different stakeholders expect from this, and what the latest approaches in relation to smart specialisation strategies are.
After a thorough discussion of Smart Specialization in Estonia, challenges such as excellence versus cohesion were discussed, as were lessons learnt from endeavours such as the Competence Centre for Wood Processing and Furniture Manufacturing, one of the dominant industries in Tartu.
Interesting aspects of European policies from institutions such as ESA also arose, and the BIC Estonia, based in the Tartu Science Park contributed to this discussion. This view was completed by visits to the SPARK Demo Centre and the Metec Metalworking company.
