Event Report
On 4th to 6th October 2017, the S3Chem project activily participated in the international chemistry fair Expoquimia. In the framework of one of the most important events related to the chemical sector in Southern Europe, several activities and events has been organised by the project.

The project was represented with a stand throughout the whole week from 2nd to 6th of October. Various brochures and promotional materials were offered to inform interested visitors about the project and funding instruments available in the partner regions.

On 4th of October all project partners and relevant stakeholders from their regions have taken part in several networking activities. In the framework of the Investment and Attraction Area of the fair, representatives from regional public authorities, chemical industry and Clusters had the opportunity to introduce their industrial locations and to present their competitive advantages of investing in the partner regions. 
 

As a special highlight, S3Chem project organised a key lecture and a panel discussion in order to discuss trends and challenges in the chemical sector with experts from the chemical industry, science and public administration.

The event was opened by Dr. Jürgen Ude, State Secretary at the Ministry of Economy, Science and Digitalisation Saxony-Anhalt and Ms. Marionna Sanz, Business Innovation Director of ACCIÓ Catalonia. In their welcoming speeches they empasized the importance of the chemical sector in their regions and for the European economy. After this, Mr. Otto Linher, Deputy Head of Unit European Commission and DG for Internal Market, Industry, Enterpreneurship and SMEs, explained in his speech current developments in the chemical policy in Europe.  

Regional stakeholders, including scientists, representatives of cluster initiatives and chemical companies were invited to present presentations and to discuss various issues related to current developments in chemical industry.

Furthermore, on 5th and 6th of October, all partners and stakeholders had the chance to participate in guided site visits to the fair. Participants of the guided tour passed different company stands and met several exhibitors who explained their work to the project partners.

The event ended  with the meeting with Antón Valero, president of the fair and of Dow Chemicals in Spain and State Secretary Dr. Jürgen Ude for signing in the fair book.
