The German Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (IMWS) in Halle (Saale), one of the largest organizations for applied scientific research in Europe and the Dutch Brightlands Material Center in Geleen, an initiative of the Province of Limburg and the research organisation TNO, will collaborate on optimized fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials for 3D printing on an industrial scale. In this German-Dutch cooperation project - a direct spin-off initiated by the S3Chem-project - both partners want to combine the advantages of individual production through 3D printing and the attractive properties of fiber-reinforced thermoplastic materials which soften when heated.
