On the 17th of March, the Municipality of Reggio Emilia participated in a training webinar directed to the teachers of every school of the Province of Piacenza (Emilia-Romagna Region, Italy). The training course aims to share good practices with the teachers in order to increase the sustainable school mobility and to give schools some guidelines on how to deal with such topic.
The Municipality of Reggio Emilia participated in one of the webinars of the training course, by presenting the School Chance project and the sustainable mobility practices and policies of Reggio Emilia.
Among other initiatives, the Municipality presented the communication campaign aimed at increasing cycling to prevent the congestion of the city road network during the pandemic. The campaign is targeted to pupils and their parents with three main messages:
• “bring me to school on foot” and “bring me to school by bike” for children going to elementary school;
• “I go to school by bike” for boys and girls from 11 to 14 years old; the message is slightly different to promote autonomy in home-to-school trips among children that are allowed to go to school on their own.
The webinar represented the occasion to disseminate the actions and results achieved by School Chance project among other schools and territories of Emilia-Romagna Region, as well as to share good practices about sustainable mobility with teachers and school staff.
