SIE partners and members of their local stakeholder groups travelled to Santander in Cantabria, Northern Spain to to find out about the challenges faced by SMEs in the region with exporting and the support services that are there to help them.

During a busy 3 days, participants:

  • Met with representatives of the the main support services available to Spanish companies wishing to expand into international markets
  • Visited some inspiring companies which are selling products and services in other countries
  • Were inspired by the region's approach to creating 'Export Consortia' to help groups of companies access big international contracts

The SIE study visits are helping project partners to discuss solutions to challenges with business support and to improve SME internationalisation support programmes in their own local contexts.
