First STAR Cities stakeholders meeting in Kaunas
Twenty five community members participated from different Kaunas and Kaunas district areas : community managers, members of Kaunas 2022 program We, the people. Two more meetings (for representatives of the administration of Kaunas and Kaunas district municipalities, Tourism offices) of local stakeholders will be organized this year.
Programme of the meeting :
- Video interview for Kaunas 2022 and Interreg Europe project STAR Cities co-operation, the first activities involving local communities.
- Presentation of the project Europe project STAR Cities: the main aim of participation; why Interreg Europe; overview of the common history background of all project partners; lifetime of the STAR Cities project; Kaunas 2022 river program and digital mapping of Kaunas and Kaunas District riverside: buildings, constructions, engineering objects, installations in water and near: marinas, bridges, quays, exits, objects of heritage, their remnants; natural objects in the river and the rivers: shores, coastlines, islands, fronts, estuaries, river flora etc.; historical, archival, photographs; events, community initiatives, coastal and river-related cultural processes; introduction to the presentation of the main activities this year
- Presentation of Creative Cultural Community TẽKA: reflection of expedition and creative workshops on the rivers this summer
- Discussion with local stakeholders about their relations with the rivers
- A lecture of Jakterina Lavrinec (curator of communal art and practitioner of the development of communal spaces) about new place making methods working with communities in special area. In this case
- Creative task for communities: fixation of the elements of the local area and collecting stories in cooperation with local people
After the meeting the interest to the project started to raise. Community members participated very active and proposed future scenarios for the development of the soft activities on rivers: storytelling workshops, yeard festivals, rivers as the main topic for the yard festival etc.
Next meeting will discuss the process of creative task with the same local stakeholders group will be organized in the following months. The results will appear in digital map Kaunas 2022 rivers program.
