On December 10, the Waste Agency of Catalonia hosted the first regional workshop of the Catalan Strategic Committee (CEC) created to work on the Interreg Europe project SUBTRACT. The Waste Agency of Catalonia is one of seven partners involved in the project, which aims at improving the competitiveness of SMEs dedicated to reuse and the preparation for reuse. The CEC is composed of 34 entities from different sectors in the public, private and academic sphere.
Josep Maria Tost, director of the Waste Agency of Catalonia, welcomed the attendees and encouraged them to offer their vision and expertise in order to make a decisive progress in promoting and improving the reuse centres throughout Catalonia. The Waste Agency presented SUBTRACT, its phases and the role which the members of CEC will play in each of them.
A first task for the participants was to fill out a questionnaire that will provide precious first-hand knowledge in the opening phase of the project: a report of the state of art of the reuse centres in the Region in order to identify critical points, provide successful cases and identify potentials for improvement of these companies and institutions in terms of competitiveness and sustainability.
