Last week, the Social Economy Intergroup, in collaboration with Social Economy Europe, hosted the public hearing on “Skills and Digitalisation: Investing in the Social Economy as tomorrow’s economy”.
The main discussion revolved around the impact of digital transformation on social economy as well as the importance of investing in the upskilling and reskilling of social economy entrepreneurs and employees as drivers of sustainable development and fair transitions.
“There are new opportunities for social economy to use platforms based on cooperative economy. We need to give social economy resources – not only technology but also skills”, said Nicolas Schmit, Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights.
“Small and medium size companies need to be supported”, he added.
Within the framework of the hearing an Interreg Central Europe project INNO-WISEs has been presented. Goal of the project is to “create a knowledge management framework, a flexible digital communication platform as well as training programmes to help WISEs - work integration social enterprises – to face their skills shortages especially in the area of digital and managerial skills”.
