Mobility is recognised by the representatives of the community of Dessau-Roßlau as a priority to future proofing the city. This was the outcome from the first meeting of the Zukunftsreise (in English, “journey into the future”) held in October in which 80 community participants were divided into eight groups each with a different subject.

The Zukunftsreise project, organised by the city of Dessau-Roßlau aims to develop a more sustainable future for the city through community engagement. Energieavantgarde Anhalt (EAA) is one of the event's partners. Since the initial invitation to participate in Zukunftsreise, EAA has seen huge potential for the development and implementation of Action 1 from the Regional Action Plan from INTENSIFY project. The main aim of Action 1 was to reduce CO2 emissions caused by the mobility sector, working on different projects to increase the use of electric vehicles in Dessau-Roßlau.

EAA and the city of Dessau-Roßlau believe that the issue of mobility in Dessau-Roßlau is essential to engaging the community. The mobility sector has a huge impact on CO2 emissions and consequently on the quality of life of the citizens. The results of the community meeting held in October, has shown that they are conscious of this impact. It reflects a change of mentality regarding the automotive area, which represents a" game changer” in Germany due to the strong automobile industry.

On 6th November, EAA participated in the concluding event of Phase 1 of the Zukunftsreise, the "Marketplace of ideas". A group of 8 people, the representatives of the community in the subject of “Mobility” transmitted some ideas, concerns and requirements. EAA and the city of Dessau-Roßlau now have the task, to design a future for the city that meets the needs and expectations of the community.

Through this participation and cooperation, Energieavantgarde Anhalt takes one more step in the aim to create a role model of Dessau-Roßlau in terms of E-Mobility, inspired by the Good Practice from Milton Keynes “The Milton Keynes Electric Vehicle Experience Centre”. This action from EAA is developed in context of the project INTENSIFY, that aims to reduce CO2 emissions through community engagement. The INTENSIFY project is part-funded by Interreg Europe through the European Regional Development Fund.
