Seven European regions participate in the BUILD2LC project (Boosting Low Carbon Innovative Building Rehabilitation in European regions).
The main objective of the BUILD2LC project is to increase the energy rehabilitation of buildings to reduce energy consumption and to enhance policies to favour the creation of a market of specialized companies in this sector.
The consortium comprises the Andalusian Energy Agency (Spain), the project leader, the Public Investment Development Agency of Lithuania, the Rzeszow Regional Development Agency in Poland, the Severyn Wye Enery Agency Ltd (United Kingdom), the North-West Croatia Regional Energy Agency, Region Jämtland Härjedalen in Sweden, the Local Energy Agency of Gorenjska in Slovenia and the Andalusian Institute of Technology.
The project, that has a budget of 1.658.987 euros, is part of the Interreg Europe programme and will be co-financed with European Regional Development Fund up to 1,384,645.15 € (83,4%).
In addition to the main objectives, the project aims to encourage the demand and promotion of investment, facilitating that citizens undertake energy rehabilitation activities, promoting the competitiveness of the business sector, to improve the skills of workers aimed at new market niches of energy rehabilitation of building, encourage innovative solutions and eliminate barriers that impede the rehabilitation of building, especially those of a normative or administrative nature.
Kick-off meeting in Andalusia
During the Kick-off meeting held in the capital of Andalusia, Seville (Spain) last May, the members of the partnership were welcomed by the Regional Minister of Employment, Business and Trade.
Partners had the opportunity to discuss about the work plan that they will develop during the almost five years of the project lifetime and they participated in two study visits, one to the Andalusian Regional Parliament, an example of air conditioning with geothermal energy by underground waters in historical buildings and the Higher Technical School of Engineering that is an example of solar cooling.
