Anatoliki S.A. on 10-11 May 2017 in Thessaloniki, Greece, in cooperation with the Region of Central Macedonia, organized the Interregional Partners’ Meeting for the 3rd semester of CESME Interreg Europe project.
Project partners and stakeholders from the six participant’s countries of project CESME (Denmark, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Italy, Finland and Greece) participated in the meeting and were about 40 people.
The first day of the Interregional Partners’ Meeting in Thessaloniki included study visits ,at selected enterprises, three SMEs in the Region of Central Macedonia in Greece, which implement good practices promoting circular economy.
The first stop of the study visits took place at Kaisidis ABTE which is a production and recycling plant of mix-asphalt in Sindos, Thessaloniki. The participants were guided around the plant and received information regarding the technology used to separate bulky waste. Furthermore, the production manager of the plant presented their good practices mentioning that the plant of this kind is one of the few in Northern Greece and one of the most modern units in South Europe.
The participants visited afterwards the BIOGAS unit in Lagadas, Thessaloniki. BIOGAS is a power generation plant (power 1 MW) utilizing biogas (combustion) produced by managing organic raw materials using anaerobic digestion technology. The vast majority of the materials derived from animal waste (manure from stables), but it also include waste from cultivations, cheese and olive oil production units.
The next and final stop took place at Sani resort in Kassandra, one of the biggest of this kind in Chalkidiki Peninsula. Sani Green is the title of the sustainability programme under which the company is continuously working to improve its environmental performance throughout the resort in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy use, water conservation, waste minimization and sustainable procurement. The manager of the programme presented in details the most recent sustainability report which is one of the few developed in this sector in Greece.
The second day took place the workshop for the implementation and customization of the Tool for Green profile assessment and the Model for return on investment and also the Steering committee meeting. During both workshops the participants filled in templates provided by the project manager indicating enterprises that implement good practices on circular economy and sustainable development. The information listed in the templates included the goals, barriers and the stakeholders of each good practice. Before the closing of the meeting a questionnaire was disseminated to each of the partners to rate their satisfaction regarding the organization of the meeting.
