25 years of Basque Cluster policy at the Basque Clusters Day-15th November 2016-San Sebastian

At the beginning of the 1990s, the Basque Country was a pioneer in the development of a cluster policy to strengthen economic competitiveness through cooperation, with special attention to SMEs. The aim was to address key strategic challenges in sustainable economic growth. This public-private partnership initiative has contributed to fostering innovation, excellence and internationalization of the sectoral areas represented in the different cluster organizations.

Now, after 25 years the Basque Country celebrated the second edition of the Basque Cluster Day with a reflection on the recent evolution of cluster policy and the present and future challenges in the context of the deployment of its Smart Specialization Strategy (RIS3).

Txomin Olabarri, CLUSTERS3 coordinator, presenting the session
