This presentation was held at the thematic event focussed on financial aspects of landfill management projects in Nicosia (Cyprus) on September 26, 2018.

Charis Soteriou (Directorate General for European Programmes, Coordination and Development, Cyprus) explained the possibilities of the OP for landfill management projects in Cyprus. Specifically, it was mentioned that 98 million euro is allocated to projects related to Solid Waste Management, of which 54 million euro is reserved for projects on closure and restoration of illegal landfills. These projects concern 25 landfill sites in Nicosia district and 46 landfills in Limassol district. In the previous programming period, about 25 million euro was spend for closure and restauration of 53 landfill sites in the Larnaca, Ammochostos and Paphos Districts. The amounts allocated from the Cohesion Fund on Solid Waste Management projects aim to support Cyprus to comply with EC Directives 1999/31/EP and 2008/98/EP. You can find the presentation here.
