This presentation was held at the thematic event in Nicosia (Cyprus) on September 26, 2018 and focused on financial aspects of landfill management projects.
Eddy Wille (Public waste Agency of Flanders, Belgium) presents the Brownfield covenant Act (March 22, 2007) in Flanders. For brownfields an integrated approach is used to remediate the contamination and redevelop the site. The 7th (and 8th) call on brownfields had special emphasis on brownfield projects aiming at the rehabilitation of former landfill sites. Projects are facilitated by a negotiator appointed by the Flemish Government. To acquire the land, the specific tax payments are not required.
