Representatives of the Platform for Cultural and Creative Industries organized the first online conference on April 29, 2021, with 110 viewers. Following last year's discussion of selected ministries on the position of cultural and creative industries, with the aim to better developing cooperation between relevant ministries and local governments.
The Platform for Cultural and Creative Industries (hereinafter "the Platform") is aware of the need to strengthen coordinated cooperation in the field of strategic support for the cultural and creative industries ("CCIs") and the need to intensify not only inter-ministerial discussion but also dialogue with local authorities and the public, in order to ensure a functioning creative ecosystem. Based on above, the main goal of the conference was to provide much needed space to support the CCIs from the perspective of invited ministries and local governments.
One of the important parts of the conference was the first attended by state secretaries from the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic (hereinafter "Ministry of Culture"), Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family, Ministry of Transport and Construction, as well as by the Director General of the Institute of Cultural Policy. The participants discussed the connection within the topic of CCIs between individual ministries, the importance and impact of the cultural and creative economy, the consideration of this topic in the agenda of other ministries, as well as the identification of partners of the Ministry of Culture in CCIs.
After that, a video lecture by Ragnar Siil, a European expert on cultural policy, on a strategic approach to CCIs at the level of European municipalities was launched, during which he drew attention to examples of good practice from the European environment. During the lecture, Slovak local governments were also recommended suitable forms of support for creativity at the regional and local level. Examples of good practice from the European environment were also presented through two short video presentations of the partners of the CREADIS3 project.
Lastly, there was an online discussion of invited local governments on the topic of creating and implementing strategies aimed at supporting CCIs. Representatives of Slovak and Czech self-governments accepted the invitation. Specifically, they were representatives of the Trnava self-governing region, the cities of Nitra, Trnava, Trenčín, Košice, Žilina, Ostrava, Plzeň and Brno.
