In this second edition (2019) of the Cultural and Creative Cities Monitor, experts have included 22 additional European cities, taking the total to 190, coming from 30 European countries.
Compared to the previous Monitor (2018), this one explores new data sources to better capture the evolving and subtle aspects of culture and creativity. It allows also cities and local stakeholders to monitor progress over time.
In addition to it, European citizens and cities can now provide their own data on cultural and creative spaces across Europe through the Monitor’s companion crowd-sourcing online tool - the Cultural gems app.
The aim of the Monitor is to support the European Commission’s efforts to put culture at the heart of its policy agenda through evidence and success stories in cities.
