On 23 November, the EGTC GO Culture, Transport and Urban Committees discussed the activities to be realised in view of the Capital of culture 2025. One of the points on the agenda was the implementation of the Cyclewalk action plan.

At the end of the first phase of the Cyclewalk project, the EGTC GO developed a cross-border local action plan to promote the Isonzo-Soča natural park and develop active mobility and cycle tourism in the areas of Gorizia, Nova Gorica and Šempeter- Vrtojba, in synergy with ongoing interventions in Friuli Venezia Giulia and Slovenia.

The action plan includes three actions:

- Audit on sustainable intermodality (public transport and active mobility);

- Pilot action for monitoring active mobility;

- Set up of a network of service providers for active mobility and cycle tourism.

The actions are currently being implemented.

Participants strongly commended the EGTC GO’s activities and expressed their readiness to build upon the results of the action plan. They emphasised that the voice of local authorities should have ample room for action, experience exchange and joint-project development.
