The European Comission announced that on 6 October 2017 all Member States of the EU and EFTA countries signed the 'government Declaration' at the Ministerial meeting. This declaration follows the Malmö Declaration signed in 2009 and the eGovernment Action Plan 2016-2020 which both recognise that a service-oriented, reliable and innovative government is essential to the development of a dynamic, productive and European society.
The Member States committed to linking up their public eServices and implement the eIDAS regulation and the once-only principle in order to provide efficient and secure digital public services. The aim of the declaration is to ensure seamless cross-border public services for businesses and high quality, user-centric digital public services for citizens, such as digital interaction or reduction of the administrative burden.
