On 22 and 23 March, EURE partners and stakeholders met for the project’s final congress in Alba Iulia, Romania. The congress focused on discussing the effectiveness of environmental urban policies to improve resources efficiency, by reviewing best practices and learnings from the EURE project.

On Day 1 of the congress, participants could witness two best practices with their own eyes.

The first best practice presented to participants was the Integrated Waste Management System Alba. This project resulted in the construction of several waste management facilities: an ecological warehouse, a sorting station, a mechano-biological treatment station, two waste transfer stations; as well as the closure of seven non-compliant landfills.

The second best practice took participants to Alba Iulia’s Sports Highschool, and example of improving energy efficiency in educational buildings in Alba Iulia. Results of this good practice included, for example, thermal rehabilitation works of the building envelope elements, the heating system and the hot water supply system, as well as facade thermal insulation.

The second day of the congress was dedicated to review the project and discuss the main conclusions.

The first panel discussed the topic of Urban Policy in an European context. Presentations showed of Panel 1 showed:
