Kaunas University of Technology, partner in the EV Energy project, carried out its 2nd Regional Stakeholder Event on the 12th December 2017 in the facilities of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania.
The meeting gathered about 12 political representatives from the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Lithuanian Road Administration under the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Energy. Attendees were from fields and departments related to sustainable mobility, electric vehicles and renewables.
The main questions raised during the event were:
- What is the current situation in the field of sustainable and electric mobility promotion, renewable energy sources integration in Lithuania? What are the legislation, political instruments, projects, inter-institutional cooperation?
- What kind of measures, projects and finance are planned in order to implement the 4 and 6 priorities of the EU Structural Funds Investment Programme for 2014-2020?
In order to advance sustainable mobility and energy in Lithuania EV infrastructure development measures are remaining and continued implemented for the period 2014-2020. The Ministry of Transport plans to use EU structural support funds – about 3 Mio Euros for the installation of charging infrastructure on state roads, highways and local roads (municipalities). The target is by 2022 to have 28 high power charging stations on state roads and highways and about 100 normal power charging stations in municipalities. There have already been installed about 20 normal power and 5 high power charging points till now. On the internet, the Ministry has already helped to provide an access map of EV charging points for Lithuania.
Several questions were raised from stakeholder’s side as well. What are good practices from other EU regions for right selection of charging point operators? Who and how is the charging fee determined? What could be the most effective communication instruments to society to encourage electric car use?
It was decided to send questions to EV Energy project partners and later to organize a skype conference in the Ministry with stakeholders from other countries and discuss raised questions.
In summary, the political authorities of Lithuania are motivated to advance sustainable mobility in Lithuania, willing for cooperation in EV Energy project in order to improve the legislative base and implementation of projects.
