On the 28th of June, a group of five Interreg Europe projects (HoCare, HELIUM, TITTAN, ITHACA, and ELISE) came together in Brussels for the first Thematic Workshop in the health innovation field.

With public health, wellbeing and active ageing being a challenge for EU regions, whilst at the same time representing an opportunity for growth and jobs, this workshop was the first concrete opportunity for discussing and creating synergies through the sharing of experiences and practices on Smart Specialisation Strategies, new policy trends, including public procurement (PCP & PPI), promotion of innovation ecosystems in the health and wellbeing sector, and how these policies can contribute to create jobs and growth; raising awareness on the use of new solutions for the improvement of services and the quality of life. Moreover, this workshop allowed the projects and regions to showcase how innovation and R&D support policies can contribute to create new jobs and growth, while at the same solving societal challenges.

After a full and intensive programme, the day proved to be very successful and will see a follow-up session towards the end of October in Milan.
