Last Friday, the National Institute of Heritage (INP) presented the INNOCASTLE project, its objectives, outcomes and current developments at the "Castle in Transylvania" conference in Cluj-Napoca. The conference addressed topics and questions such as:

  • who has the responsibility of maintaining castles and monuments
  • the role castles play in nowaday's day to day life in the region
  • the challenges and opportunities that castle owners come across
  • can all castles be saved?

Organized by Pont - a young Transylvania-based expert group working on local and regional development - the conference aimed to strengthen the links between owners, specialists, and communities, and find new ideas for historical estates in the region.

The conference also launched a new project which invites visitors to explore the history of 3 castles in Transylvania in an innovative and artistic way: www.historyisourstory.ro/descopera;
