ApisProtect www.apisprotect.com a Cork-born startup which has recently emerged from Ignite UCC www.ucc.ie/en/ignite/ uses unique and innovative technology to help beekeepers prevent losses and increase productivity in their hives.
Founded by Dr Fiona Edwards-Murphy, ApisProtect is inspired by proven research from academia. In 2013 Fiona began her doctoral research into the application of sensors and networking in honey bee hives. The project received international recognition, including at least eight academic publications; awards from the Irish Research Council, the IEEE, IBM, the Irish Laboratory Awards and Google among others, as well as extensive international media attention.
