“Gostilna Rajh got an opportunity to present itself in USA. The costs were partly covered through a voucher for participation at economic delegations abroad. During our stay, we got a chance to present our traditional pastry, PREKMURSKA GIBANICA, to Luka Dončić at an NBA game. That was the best possible promotion of Slovenian cuisine, our restaurant and Slovenia in general we could ever have hoped for.”
Tanja Pintarič, Owner of Gostilna Rajh
Gostilna Rajh is a family owned restaurant that is dedicated to local culinary tradition. They are offering traditional food, typical of both Slovenia and the region of Prekmurje. Among there are also pastries, especially the famous Prekmurska gibanica, which is a typical local pastry that has achieved the status of a national specialty of Slovenia. When the opportunity presented itself, they have decided to present it after the NBA game in Cleveland, which had a worldwide coverage.
In 2019 Gostilna Rajh applied for a voucher in the value of 1.080 EUR, which covered part of their costs to attend an event in Cleveland USA, where they presented the Prekmurska gibanica to Slovenian basketball star Luka Dončić right after the game.
Following their media exposure, Gostilna Rajh has noticed interest from people all over the world, most of all, Slovenian who have lived abroad for years, to visit their restaurant and try their pastries and other culinary tastes they remember fondly.
