The University of Algarve, through the Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer (CRIA), in partnership with the Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA) and the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE), launched the 7th edition of the Business Ideas Competition, named “IDEAS EM CAIXA”.
This initiative, aiming to stimulate entrepreneurship and the creation of new companies directed to international markets in the region, provides for 6 prizes of € 5,000, directed to the winners of each of six categories: R&D (1), Cultural and Creative Industries and Information, Communication and Electronic Technologies (2), Agri-food (3), Health and Well-being (4), Renewable Energies (5), and Sea (6). In total, IDEAS EM CAIXA aggregates € 30,000 in direct financial support, adding constancy, mentoring, scholarships, and other awards.
The contest presents three distinct phases, culminating in the presentation of each business model to the jury. Until the final stage, all participants will have access to a set of maturation seminars and workshops, where they will develop their business ideas through specialized consultancy in the different areas of business creation and management, marketing, finance, obtaining financing, among other topics.
Applications are open until February 26, 2021.

Since its first edition, this initiative has received more than four hundred applications, having supported the creation and consolidation of more than forty companies in the region, thus contributing to the creation of value and competitiveness of the entrepreneurial ecosystem of the Algarve region.
This initiative is one of the core activities of RESTART ALGARVE - Regional Entrepreneurship Support Network, co-financed by the Support System for Collective Actions - Promotion of Entrepreneurship, of the Regional Operational Program of the Algarve 2014-2020 (CRESC Algarve 2020), and developed in partnership with the Business Association of the Algarve Region (NERA) and the National Association of Young Entrepreneurs (ANJE).
RESTART is also one of the reference projects supported by the Algarve Operational Program, boosted and accompanied under the scope of INTRA, regarding the implementation period of 2019 – 2021.
