Article of Noorderbreedte (Dutch article)
European islands face the same problems: population decline, brain drain, vulnerable nature and unilateral economic development. To stimulate sustainable innovation and to learn from each other's experiences, the Islands of Innovation project started on the Danish island of Samsø last week. Initiator of the project is the province of Fryslân, the Netherlands. Reporter Annelies van der Goot joined this meeting and wrote an article for the Dutch magazine Noorderbreedte.
Europese eilanden hebben te maken met dezelfde problematiek: bevolkingskrimp, braindrain, kwetsbare natuur en eenzijdige economische ontwikkeling. Om duurzame innovatie te stimuleren en te leren van elkaars ervaringen vond op het Deense eiland Samsø afgelopen week de start van het project Islands of Innovation plaats. Initiatiefnemer is de provincie Fryslân. Journaliste Annelies van der Goot was aanwezig bij deze bijeenkomst en schreef een artikel voor het Nederlandse tijdschrift Noorderbreedte.
