The TIPPING wheel is an instant picture of the state of the island. Comparing the years 2011 and 2016, there was less unemployment in 2016. The citizens occupy the same amount of building area as in 2011, but the commercial building area shrank. However, residents with a second house on Samsø increased their building area. TIPPING stands for The Innovation Projects’ Perspective for Islands’ New Governance. We use it here to monitor the state of eight indicators. The TIPPING wheel could support the island’s innovation policy, if we manage to include it in the municipal policy instruments. The plot is called a radar plot (Excel). The underlying data came from Statistics Denmark. The TIPPING wheel clearly shows eight important variables in one picture.
