The participants of the Interreg program MedTech4 Europe project traveled to the South Transdanubian region of Hungary to learn about the local best practices and to share experiences with each other. The study trip took place in Pécs, and it was focused on the research and innovation centers of a University of Pécs (PTE) with 25,000 students.
On Tuesday, 15 October, the first stop of the participants was the PTE 3D Center, where Dr. Péter Maróti R&D Coordinator introduced the production and development of 3D printed medical devices. The PTE 3D Center works with organizations in the technical, health and art fields. Its most important partner is Corvus Med Kft., With whom they jointly produce locomotor rehabilitation devices.
The second stop of the study tour was the Szentágothai Research Center, which is famous not only for its research work but also for the use of the most modern architectural solutions, the building is powered by renewable energy. The research center hosts lecture halls and practice labs, which are mostly used by students at the University's Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy and Science. In addition, the conditions for world-class research are assured. Prof. Dr. Ferenc Jakab, Head of Virology Research Group, welcomed the guests and gave an insight into the daily life of the research teams.
Then everyone walked to the National Blood Supply Service's Pécs Regional Blood Supply Center, where László Kreka, Instrumentation and Technical Coordinator, gave a presentation of the facility's equipment, operation of the center and the transfusion process.
At noon, guests could dine at the 104-year-old Palatinus Hotel's restaurant, followed by a workshop in the hotel's Nádor room, where they could share good practices, morals, and experiences.
Next day, the members of the Steering Committee hold their next meeting, than it was time to say goodbye.
The organizers, the members of the South Transdanubian Regional Innovation Agency hope that everyone could learn something new.
