The purpose of the first thematic workshop was to find the answear to the question of how to arrange transport connections in The City of Tartu, its suburbian areas and neighboring municipalities in more sustainable way. During the first part of the workshop, participants analysed the current state and transportation challenges of the city. The problems they defined were a.o. lack of infrastructure, uncomfortable location of transport hubs or lack of bikesharing system connected to public transport. In the second part, the ideas and recommendations for improvement of the public transportation and cycling were presented. On the basis of the carried out analysis, the participants purposed many solutions, such as redesigning of the parking policy for cars, initiation of social campaigns in order to enhance the traffic culture or restructuring infrastructure.
