Stefanos Michos, Deputy Director, ICT Directorate of Decentralized Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece & Ionian.

1. Why did you join the Osiris activities?

Being responsible for the management of Open Government actions in Decentralised Administration of Peloponnese, Western Greece & Ionian, we have recently been dealing with open data provision for businesses and citizens. Since the OSIRIS meeting in Trento last September was focused on “Open Data and the Public Sector”, it was a very good opportunity for us to learn more about data driven economy, interoperability and standards within the frame of EU Digital Single Market policies, using the Trentino experiences as starting stimuli.

2. What did you learn from participating?

It was really a great event where staff belonging to the different partners’ organisations learned a lot about targeting users, organisational processes & change management, and communication. Furthermore, the partners delegations participated in two (2) Labs and three (3) Co-creative workshops dealing with reuse of web portals data hands on information from institutional websites, challenges in supporting and accelerating services to facilitate the development of data driven businesses, engaging and supporting businesses and start-ups, etc.

3. How can you transfer this knowledge to your own work?

The OSIRIS meeting in Trento showed us new ways of exploiting the abovementioned knowledge to our own work, such as finding connections between European Data Portal and our National Data Portal, finding connections between Open Government Data and the development of new business professions and skills, exploring methods of using Open Data for local territories, etc.

4. Did you get new useful contacts for your own work?

I had the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on open data manipulation and exploitation with stakeholders from various countries, particularly those coming from the Autonomous Province of Trento, whose reputation on Open Data management is remarkable all over Italy.
