Luca Capra, Deputy Manager of the Incubator and New Enterprise Area, Trentino Sviluppo
1. Why did you join the Osiris activities?
I work for Trentino Sviluppo Spa, the provincial Local Development Agency, our mission is supporting the innovation of the local businesses.
My role is to assist the beginning and the growth of start-ups and SMEs: in this field our companies haven’t started to take advantage of the data driven economy yet, and with OSIRIS we want to help them to become more aware about the new business models related to data.
From one side we can bring to OSIRIS the experience of the start-ups concerning the “user requirements” (e.g. what kind of data they need) and on the other side we can make them aware of these new particular economies.
2. What did you learn from participating?
From a personal point of view I have had the possibility to better focus on this theme, collecting knowledge and new skills concerning new business models related to the data driven economy.
3. How can you transfer this knowledge to your own work?
In our activity of training for the SMEs, I am introducing some seminars and some workshops concerning the data driven economy.
4. Did you get new useful contacts for your own work?
The discussions and the sharing of experiences with the other international partners and stakeholders, during the co-creative meeting that took place in Trento and Rovereto last September gave me the possibility to observe, from different angles, what we are doing, both from the public administration side and from the business point of view.
5. Given the lessons learned – how do you see that the innovation system in your own region can be improved? If possible, give a few concrete examples.
The creation of tools in order to make the companies more aware about the data driven economy would be very important, together with some measures (e.g. subsidies, bonuses etc.) to give priority to the businesses that starts to operate in this field.
In order to boost the development of this economy, the creation of conditions to foster the dialogue between private demand and public offer is essential.
