Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship are the key factors that will significantly contribute in the design of the Action Plan for the Region of Western Greece. This was the core theme of OSIRIS meeting organized at Patras, Greece on 15th -17th of May 2018.
The OSIRIS partners and stakeholders, apart from the open and social innovation, were also introduced to the concept of Responsible Innovation. The co-creative workshop enabled participants to rethink and better illustrate the status of their action plans, their content, the main actions envisaged, possible pilot actions and suggestions about their implementation.
The staff exchange session focused on presenting in depth the Good practice “Patras Innovation Quest (IQ)” and the electronic platform “thinkCulture”, which offers to users accessing experiences, interactive exploration with 360o representation, audiovisual information and thematic routes. The day concluded with a visit to «POS4work», the first co-working space in Patras, a private initiative operated by very active and inspiring young people.
The study visits focused on research and innovation oriented structures, starting with Patras Science Centre, a place that provides motivation as it leads the way to deeper insight and understanding science and natural phenomena. Then, the visit to Patras Science Park was very interesting and productive; the OSIRIS delegation had the opportunity to visit most of Patras Science Park´s premises, contact spin off companies from the energy, medical and biotechnology sector, and find out the activities, members and investigate possible future collaboration with the Innovation Hubs i.e. Aroma Hub, Clean Tech Energy hub and Smart Cities. They also learned about Patras Orange Grove, a structure that strongly supports new start-ups. The study visits concluded by paying a long learning visit to the very interesting interactive lab “AAL House – Ambient Assisted Living House", a prototype smart house, which exploits the state of the art of IoT and ICT and provides assistance to individuals for carrying out their daily activities in their homes with the least assistance, thus improving their quality of life.
