The final conference of the OUR WAY project of the Interreg Europe programme, led by the Region of Murcia for the conservation, protection, promotion and development of natural and cultural heritage in Europe using greenways, will be held next week in Brussels. The other project partners are regions from Ireland, Poland, France, Hungary and Bulgaria, with different levels of development, management and promotion of their heritage through greenways, as well as an advisory partner, the European Greenways Association, with extensive experience and expertise in the field of the project.
The project which started in 2018, began with a first learning phase in which 3 inter-regional workshops were developed. The first one in Ireland on governance, the second one in Poland on tourism promotion and the third one online, due to the pandemic, on financing, organised by the French partners. In order to learn more about good practices, study visits have been made to the regions of the exporting partners. The Region of Murcia has participated, for example, in the visit to the Lough Key Forest Park in Ireland, in the county of Roscommon, to learn how they work in the area of tourism promotion.
During the second phase of the project, each partner has developed and implemented an action plan in their region based on best practices collected from the other participants.
At the Final Conference, all partners will present the results of the implemented action plans and there will be a round table with experts on greenways in Europe. The event will be attended by the partners with their stakeholders.
