From 5 to 7 September 2017, PASSAGE project partners gathered in Tallinn to discuss cross-border cooperation in maritime border regions. This seminar was the first of a series of seminars dedicated to the elaboration of cross-border action plans in each of the border regions involved in the project.

This seminar was hosted by Harju County Government, the Estonian partner of PASSAGE project on the Gulf of Finland. On the agenda, a key issue: how to better structure cross-border cooperation in maritime border regions for a more efficient carbon transition?

The seminar was the opportunity for the partners to share their experience of cross-border governance and cooperation as well as ideas for the future in their own maritime border region. On 6 September morning, PASSAGE partners had the chance to discuss the topic more broadly with Estonian and Finnish stakeholders gathered at the occasion of a local event of the European Week of Regions and Cities organised by PASSAGE partnership (read the dedicated article). A good food for thoughts for the future cross-border action plans!

The seminar also enabled PASSAGE partners to discover the successful example of green transition in Paldiski, a city hosting PAKRI science and industrial park dedicated to energy and environmental technologies. The visit of the port of Paldiski, part of the company "Port of Tallinn", completed the good overview of the main features of the region when it comes to maritime low-carbon transition.
