The Policy Breakfast & Stakeholder Workshop RESINDIUSTRY – 'Erneuerbare Energiequellen in der Industr'y in Austria took place on the 16th & 17th of May 2022 at the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg.
The Policy Breakfast and Stakeholder Workshop was an event to inform as well as discuss with stakeholders the topic of renewable energy in industry. To provide a good basis for discussion an introductory presentation was held by Martin Dobler, outlining the project RESINDUSRTY with its ideas, goals and achievements. An insight into the Vorarlberg Action Plan was given to show the participants its extend and content.
After a short coffee break that gave the participants the possibility to get to know each other and exchange ideas, the workshop continued with the Expert Talks for Policy Instruments in the European Context by Dr Jan Hauser and Michal Tobiáš. Thereby the two experts first gave an introduction about policy instruments in other countries of the European Union. Then the topic of renewable sources in practice with its pros and cons, barriers as well as necessities were discussed, which gave an interesting overview of existing as well as future projects and ideas. Afterwards, the experts held a brief presentation on how to raise awareness for the discussed topics - including sustainability, industry involvement & policy impact - as well as how to generate lasting stakeholder involvement. The expert talks were concluded by insight into the cohesion policy support instruments of the European Union in the field of renewable energy sources. After the talks there was room for discussion and an outlook, summarising the status-quo as well as giving hints of future developments. To round off the event, the experts were available for individual consultations upon request by stakeholders and local staff of FHV on the following morning between 9:00 and 12:00.
