The RAP actions are mainly based on our Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan that has been accorded by our City Council in December 2017. In this SUMP sustainable mobility and offering new, sustainable transport modes has been addressed as one of the key issue of our new mobility policy. Resolve has contributed to the setup of this SUMP.

 To realise concrete projects Resolve gave a boost to start with the preparation of new mobility concepts like bike sharing and sustainable city logistics. Resolve was our starting point to address this topic and gain support among several stakeholders.

 Bikesharing and Park&Bike

Study Visits and the Import Workshop gave specific information about do’s en don’ts about bikesharing.

 In 2020 Roermond launched a pilot: the City Step was introduced from July 2020 to October 2020 as a new and innovative electric vehicle in Roermond, combined with Park&Bike facilities. Several stakeholders both of the innercity and Roermond Bereikbaar have been involved in the development and preparation of this new mobility concept. This pilot was a first roll-out to gain experience with sharing facilities and can be qualified as successful.

 At the same time we explored the opportunities for a structural implementation of the City Step. Roermond is working out the concept together with Roermond Bereikbaar in which also the Province Limburg is involved, taking into account the input from the Study Visits an d the Import Workshop. Due to several physical, financial and organisational aspects realisation is expected in Q3 2021.

 Sustainable city logistics

As a second action, the municipality of Roermond wants to start a pilot with City Hub (Good Practice) to reduce delivery-related traffic. Instead of individual deliveries City Hub is going to bundle several deliveries that are going to be distributed by low-carbon vehicles. In SEM 8 we explored the possibilities for our organisation to participate in the possibilities of bundled deliveries to our own municipality. With this we want to set a good example to other innercity partners and entrepreneurs to join..

 Beside the concrete actions as mentioned in our Regional Action Plan we - inspired by Resolve - have realised the following related actions according to sustainable mobility:

- Optimization of Google Maps to improve the customer journey for our visitors;

- New parking policy

- Increasing the amount of bicycle parkings

- Cross-border Ecar and Ebike sharing (Interreg NL-D project SHAREuregio)
