The one-day event took place on 7th February in Manchester City Centre and was made up of a delegation of 9 colleagues from the Ostrava Region of Czech Rep. The visitors were interested in a range of measures, initiatives and polices. The visit was opened with an overview of our 2040 Transport Strategy which gave the visitors an idea of the Greater Manchester context and the direction which we wish to take. A presentation was then given on the Greater Manchester Metroshuttle, a free low-emission bus which take passengers from transport interchanges to retail areas.

One of the main areas of interest for the visitors was the Greater Manchester tram network. The delegation learned about its extension and went on a field visit to a line which is currently being constructed to the region’s largest out-of-town shopping centre.

In the afternoon there were presentations on how we have engaged with businesses and staff to promote sustainable travel. We ended with an overview of the work which we have carried out to improve the air quality of Greater Manchester.
